He broke her heart. When he finds out just how badly, it will break his too.

Nick Walker found the love of his life when he was just nineteen.

Found her.
Loved her.
Lost her.

It's been ten years since Nick watched the only woman he ever loved walk out of his life. Now this FBI Special Agent will do anything to win her back.

But it won’t be easy…

Mia’s heart was shattered by Nick. They'll have to face their painful past if they want a future, including Mia's own secret about that day it all fell apart.

Do you believe in second chances?

Claudia Connor delivers another solid read in her latest book Worth the Wait.  This one is a spin-off to her McKinney Brothers Series and features the story of Nick and Mia and is also a slight continuation of Worth the Risk, Hannah and Stephen's story.

I have been waiting on this one for quite some time because I couldn't imagine that Ms. Connor would leave Nick without giving him his own happily ever after.  There was so much of this book that was just heart wrenching starting from the very first chapter.  Readers are given the back story of what it was like for Nick to take on the roll of parent to Hannah at such an early age.  It was sweet and sad all at the same time but I loved every minute of it.  Mia's role in the story was left untold in Worth the Risk so it was a special treat to see how she came into their lives and how she and Nick ended up separated from one another.

Nick and Mia's story is not an easy one.  It is full of love and angst.  When I got to the part that explains just how Mia fit into Hannah's incident, I was shocked....and the aftermath of that was just almost impossible to even read through.  I loved Mia for Nick and I could see both sides of the issue.  It was not something that could easily be dismissed or worked through which is why it probably took several years for these two to actually get to a point where they could have the discussion.  Nicks rationale for how he felt was self righteous and understandable at the same time.

Ms. Connor is a master of weaving a story that leaves you thinking about the book several weeks later.  Worth the Wait was definitely worth the wait.  I'm looking forward to getting the stories of the rest of the Walker clan! I'm giving this one 5 Sweltering Keys!
